Children’s Corner: New Arrivals

We are so spoiled here at Paperchain in more ways than one, but especially as we sit down once a month with publishers and pour over the delightful children’s books that will make their way onto the shelves over the next few months. We’ve picked a few August releases that we think you’ll love and some have already arrived in store!

I Just Ate My Friend – Heidi McKinnon

I just ate my friend. He was a good friend. But now he is gone. Would you be my friend?

A hilarious story about the search for friendship and belonging… and maybe a little bit about the importance of impulse control… from an amazing new creator.

no dragon in this story

There is no Dragon in this Story – Lou Carter and Deborah Allwright

There is no place for a Dragon is this story or that story. Nuh-uh, no chance. Will there ever be a place for him amongst all the classic fairy tales? Revisiting all our favourite tales with pictures by Deborah Allwright, this story of inclusion and finding a place where you fit is a wonderful play on classic stories.

Dinosaur Detectives: Rescue Mission – Sophie Guerrive

Lost something? Never Fear! Dinosaur detectives are on the way! In this stunning and intricately illustrated search and find – you can become what I’m sure we’ve all dreamed of; a Brachiosaurus detective in an aeroplane.

Play? – Linda Olafsdottir

All the way from Iceland comes the story of Phil and Puff, and Frida and Fox, two loyal pairings of playmates who begin to wonder if perhaps, just maybe, they can all play together. Hand illustrated in a soft, sketchy style, this is story about sharing and trying something new.

A Horse Named Steve – Kelly Collier

Steve is a horse, a completely amazing, unique and fabulous horse with a golden horn. With his daring style, he is a trendsetter and refuses to be anything short of exceptional until one day, his golden horn is lost. Will he ever find? How can he be exceptional now?

And that is just the tip of the iceberg! There are plenty more in store to have a chuckle over, so make sure to pop in and check them out!
