One of the best things about reading a good book or reading a bad one is discussing your thoughts about it with others. Talking about books and recommending books is one of the main reasons why we are here. Why we choose to be in this industry. It’s because we love to discuss books.
It was natural then to start a book club here in store, well actually to kind of hijack an already formed one.
One of our new booksellers, Claire, has been hosting a book club for over a year and has now brought it here to Paperchain. Anyone is welcome to attend, it is a relaxed and enjoyable place to come and discuss the book of the month and to chat to other book lovers!
Books in the past have included: The Yellow House by Emily O’Grady, Melmoth by Sarah Perry, Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield, Under Your Wings by Tiffany Tsao, The Botanist’s Daughter by Katye Nunn, The Farm by Joanne Ramos and many more.
In the past the book club has also been able to on occasion secure signed book plates and interview the author of the book. If you are interested in reading any of the past interviews you can do so on Claire’s book blog. However from now on a book club wrap up and any author interviews will be posted on here for you to enjoy.
The book club will be held on the second Saturday of every month. It was originally planned to be held at 5.00pm in store however due to an overwhelming response from our wonderful customers we have opened up a second session at 3.00pm. Because of this it is necessary to RSVP if you are wanting to attend, as we have limited space in store. However as mentioned above, this is what we love to do and if there is interest for it we can always open up more sessions and times!
If you would like more details and news on the book of month please send an email to books@paperchainbookstore.com.au, where we can add you to the book club emails.
There is nothing quite as enjoyable as spending an evening surrounded by books and sharing your love of books with others. We hope to see you there sometime!
